When he learns that a Chicago-based Russian mob group (the Zakarovs) are now involved with hostages in close relation to Tequila, the stakes become more personal. The game's story starts in modern-day Hong Kong, where Inspector "Tequila" Yuen investigates the disappearance of a fellow police officer only to find himself in the middle of a triad territorial war between the Dragon Claw, Golden Kane, and Imperial 9s. Both Woo (who also played a helpful bartender in the original film) and Chow Yun-Fat (who played the main protagonist, Inspector "Tequila" Yuen, in the original film) reprise their roles in the game by contributing their likenesses and voice acting. The sequel to Chinese filmmaker John Woo's 1992 film Hard Boiled, Stranglehold emulates the over-the-top gun battles of numerous John Woo films like The Killer and A Better Tomorrow II. Since it is made for Windows it plays great on Vista. You will probably want to sell it after you are done because the replay value is low but it is cheaper then going to the movies. If you can pick this title up for under $10 including S&H you would have a great Saturday afternoon of fun. is relatively dumb but that doesn't matter when bullets are flying and your dodging across tables and jumping off of walls. If you have a great video card you can crank up the graphics and have a fun thrill ride but you can't use your xbox 360 controller and nor would you want to. The problem is that the game is fairly linear and short. It is fast paced with great graphics and gun play. Stranglehold for your PC is an action videogame that takes you into a John Woo movie. The other issue with the game is that there is not really any hand to hand combat - you can jump and dive and melee up close, but they should have included some slo-mo John Woo moves.Īll in all though, I really enjoy this game! The levels are pretty enclosed, not really any wandering around, but why would you want to when you can fly through the air with an assault rifle blowing up everything! preferably when the helicopter is shooting you inside of a high-rise penthouse. I would love to be able to shoot a rocket earlier in the game. Great game, the only complaints that I have though is that the weapons are pretty basic, and you only get to use a rocket launcher and a heavy machine gun on two levels. No worries here though, just swing from a hanging light and take out the bad guys in a stylish slow-mo "Tequila Time". Swarm after swarm of enemies come with guns blazing, firing everything at your character.

This game is full of action, almost too much at some times! There is definetely a challenge no matter which difficulty is selected. Stranglehold - it did not let me go at all!
